The AUA has outlined the "Coding and Reimbursement Process" for urologic services and what is involved in creating a new CPT code from inception to valuation in two documents. The first is called the "Path to Payment" that describes the creation of a new CPT code and how it is given a value for reimbursement.

The second is called the "Help the AUA help you! Complete the RUC survey" that addresses how AUA members can assist the AUA to value CPT codes for reimbursement. The RUC survey is an important tool to collect objective data to assign a specific relative value that leads to reimbursement for urologic services.
